Product Feature

Application:

DC resistance test is the necessary test item for a transformer handover before delivery, it is the ideal equipment to measure DC resistance of transformer winding and high-power inductive devices.

This series of products is relatively advanced in design, and has been greatly improved  and improved in materials, structures and processes. The high and low pressure clamps  are tensioned by steel straps or upper beams and side beams to form  a  strong  frame  structure that enhances the core clamping force and the ability to withstand transport  shocks. It has strong anti-short circuit capability, beautiful appearance selection, reliable  operation, low loss and low noise, reaching the advanced level of similar foreign   products.

Features:

Product Structure

1. The Magnetic Circuit (Core)

  • Core: This is the magnetic path that links the primary and secondary windings. It is made of high-grade, grain-oriented silicon steel laminations. These thin sheets are stacked together and insulated from each other to minimize eddy current losses and hysteresis losses.

  • Yoke and Limbs: The core consists of vertical sections called “limbs” (which carry the windings) and horizontal sections called “yokes” (which close the magnetic path).

2. The Electric Circuit (Windings)

  • Windings (Coils): These are the electrical conductors that carry the current. They are typically made of high-conductivity copper (or sometimes aluminum).

    • HV Winding (High Voltage): The winding with a larger number of turns, usually located on the outer side relative to the core.

    • LV Winding (Low Voltage): The winding with fewer turns, usually located closer to the core.

  • Insulation: Paper or pressboard insulation is wrapped around the conductors to provide turn-to-turn and layer-to-layer insulation, in addition to the main oil insulation.

3. The Insulating and Cooling Medium

  • Transformer Oil: The entire core and winding assembly is submerged in a tank filled with specialized mineral oil or synthetic oil.

    • Function: It provides dielectric strength (insulation) between live parts and the ground, and it transfers heat generated in the core and coils to the tank surface or radiators.

4. The Mechanical Structure (Tank and Enclosure)

  • Tank: A robust, steel container that houses the core, windings, and oil. It is designed to be air-tight and withstand the pressure of the oil.

  • Cooling Tubes / Radiators: Attached to the outside of the tank. Hot oil rises to the top, flows through these radiators, cools down, and sinks back into the tank (natural convection). For larger units, fans (for forced air) or oil pumps (for forced oil) may be added.

5. Bushings (Terminals)

  • Bushings: These are insulated structures that allow the internal leads from the windings to pass safely through the grounded metal tank to connect to the external power lines.

    • LV Bushings: Generally smaller.

    • HV Bushings: Much larger and often porcelain-clad to handle high voltages.

6. Protection and Control Accessories

  • Conservator Tank: An auxiliary tank mounted on top of the main tank. As oil heats up and expands, it moves into the conservator. When it cools and contracts, oil flows back. This ensures the tank is always full.

  • Breather (Silica Gel Breather): Connected to the conservator, it contains silica gel crystals that absorb moisture from the air entering the conservator, preventing moisture contamination of the oil.

  • Buchholz Relay: A gas-actuated protection device placed in the pipe connecting the main tank to the conservator. It detects faults inside the transformer (which produce gas) and alerts operators or trips the circuit.

  • Explosion Vent / Pressure Relief Device (PRD): A safety mechanism that releases pressure if a severe internal fault causes a sudden surge in pressure, preventing the tank from rupturing.

  • Tap Changer: A mechanism to adjust the output voltage ratio. It changes the number of turns in one of the windings.

    • Off-Load Tap Changer: Must be de-energized to adjust.

    • On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC): Can adjust voltage without interrupting the power supply (more complex and often housed in its own separate oil compartment).

  • Oil Level Indicator and Temperature Gauge: Instruments to monitor the oil level and the temperature of the oil and windings.
